Some weeks are slow. This one is not. Between a scavenger hunt, a fort building project, a skate park, and enough pool time to last us through August, our house has been in constant motion.
Christmas in July, in the Middle of Summer
The Christmas in July scavenger hunt at Byers Choice has turned into a cousin camp tradition for us, one of those things the kids look forward to every year without fail. There's something funny about hunting for holiday clues while it's 90 degrees outside, but that contrast is half the fun. It turns a normal errand into an actual event.
Legos, on Repeat
Somewhere in between everything else, the Lego bin came out and never really went back. Free builds have been happening on repeat all week, no instructions, no set design, just whatever comes together. It's become the fallback activity in the quieter pockets of the day, and honestly, some of their best creations have come out of it.
Fort Building Takes Over the Living Room
Next up was fort building, which is exactly what it sounds like: blankets, couch cushions, and a living room that did not survive the process unscathed. The kids were fully in charge of design, and I was mostly there for structural support and snack delivery. It's a simple activity, but it kept them occupied for hours.
Rolling Into Ambler Skate Park
From forts to wheels, we made our way to Ambler Skate Park
next. It's become one of our go-to spots when the kids need to burn off energy in a big way. Watching their confidence grow every time we go is one of my favorite parts of summer.
Ending the Week Poolside
We're closing things out with pool time, which honestly might be the real MVP of summer. No plans, no schedule, just floating and cooling off after a week that had very little downtime.
Why Weeks Like This Matter
I'll be honest, weeks like this are exhausting. But they're also the ones I look back on and remember most. A little bit of everything, a lot of mess, and kids who fell asleep fast every single night. That's a good trade in my book.
